If a customer is having issues with incorrect movement or the incorrect amount of revolutions on the Vortex with the closed-loop stepper motors, check the following.
Dip switches
The correct dip switch position is
1-ON, 2-ON, 3-ON, 4-OFF, 5-ON
Incorrect Firmware Settings
Used Rotary Mode
A customer might have used Rotary Mode instead of 4th Axis mode the first time they used the Vortex. Customers with closed loop Vortex should always use 4th Axis. Rotary mode swaps the A and Y firmware values for Travel Resolution, Maximum Rate, Acceleration, and Travel Amount. There is a bug in gSender where it doesn't swap the values back to default when swapping back to 4th Axis.
The customer should open the firmware tool, scroll to the incorrect settings and click the circular arrow to restore defaults.
Incorrect travel Resolution
Ensure the A-axis travel resolution is set correctly by doing the following:
Go to the Console on the main gSender window. Type in $103 = 79.012345679 then press “Run”
Turn off the controller then on and reconnect.
