Confirm the wiring is correct
- Make sure the RS485 cable is plugged into the back of the controller and not in the front for SLB and SLB-EXT
-
Ensure the power and signal cables on the VFD match below
VFD Display reads r00.0 or f00.0
If the display on the VFD (the power box for the spindle) reads r00.0 or f00.0, there is a lack of communication between the control board and the VFD.
Please do the following:
- Download the file for your machine. Ensure to download the correct file. - Altmill - Sienci_spindle_configuration_SLB-EXT.gcode
- LongMill - LongMill Spindle Configuration (SLB Controller only).gcode

- Open gSender and run the attached setup code. This will set all EEPROM settings to what they should be.
- Power cycle absolutely everything. Turn off the VFD and the controller. Close gSender
- Turn on the VFD first, then the controller, then connect to gSender. Ensure the VFD is plugged into the back of the controller above the power switch.
- Go to console, type $spindles and check if H100 is selected as "Current spindle".
- In Console, type M3S10000 to see if the spindle spins properly.
- In Console, type M5 to see if the spindle stops.
Spindle Operation Test
- Put the spindle into manual mode to test the VFD and the Spindle is operating correctly. VFD Manual Mode
Spindle not turning on with a project or software commands
- The spindle might be in manual mode and not automatic mode. Press the green run button on the VFD Display. If the spindle starts rotating, it's in manual mode. Change the VFD to automatic mode by following the instructions here. VFD Automatic Mode
Non-Sienci or PwnCNC Spindles
If you have a 3rd party spindle, you will need to reach out to your manufacturer for VFD settings. You can read more about setting up PWN signals spindles for the SLB or SLB-EXT here. Spindle Resources
